Processie op Ternate.

In 1721-1722 maakte Jacob Roggeveen een wereldreis op zoek naar de Goud en Zilvereilanden. Na zijn vergeefse zoektocht kwam hij in 1722 aan in de Molukken, waar hij deze processie zag. De processie vond plaats ter ere van een islamitisch ritueel waarbij een geit geofferd werd. De man onder het zonnescherm is de Ternataanse koning.
