Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Pictured is HMS Blazer passing by Sir Ben Ainslie's America’s Cup Boat Land Rover BAR.

Type 23 Frigate HMS Kent can be seen in the background.

Offshore Patrol Vessels conduct fishery protection duties and safeguard the integrity of the UK's territorial waters. Fast Inshore Patrol Craft provide training and maritime experience for University Royal Naval Unit students and also provide support to Fleet tasking and exercises.

Fourteen P2000 Fast Inshore Patrol Craft form the First Patrol Boat Squadron.

Their primary role is to support the University Royal Naval Units (URNU) but they also contribute to a wide range of Fleet tasking.

The Duke Class Type 23 Frigates are based in Portsmouth and Devonport, the ships were designed to deal with the Soviet submarine threat – but in the 20 years since the fall of Communism, the frigates have proven their versatility by dealing with virtually every mission imaginable in the four corners of the globe.
