Description
العربية: عربة الترامواي (الكاري) ذات طابقين في بغداد والتي كانت تجرها الخيول على سكة من حديد، وكانت شائعة الاستعمال في اسطنبول وبعض المدن الأوروبية آنذاك، فقد لاحظ والي بغداد مدحت باشا ما يعانيه أهل بغداد من مشقة التنقل مع أمتعتهم بواسطة الدواب ففيها من الصعوبة وقرر هذا الوالي تأسيس شركة مساهمة تقوم بإنشاء سكة ترامواي بغداد وظلت الشركة تسير بنجاح إلى أن رفع الوالي مدحت باشا استقالته من الولاية وغادر بغداد في عام 1872، فبدأت الشركة منذ ذلك الحين تسير في طريق الإهمال والتدهور تدريجياً كأغلب مشاريع الدولة العثمانية، وظلت تقاوم حتى استطاعت أخيراً أن تحظى بمدراء أكفاء استطاعوا نظموا إداراتها وتسييرها بانتظام. إلى ان تقرر تصفية أعمالها في زمن الحرب العالمية الثانية عام 1941 عندما استولت الحكومة على وسائط النقل البرية والبحرية، فانتقلت إدارة الترامواي إليها وانتهى هذا المشروع كشركة مساهمة. وظلت تدار من قبل الحكومة حتى ألغيت نهائياً في تاريخ 15 كانون الأول 1946 واستعيض عنها بالباصات التي كانت تديرها دائرة أمانة العاصمة لتسهيل نقل الركاب في شوارع العاصمة وضواحيها، والتي تحولت أخيراً إلى المنشأة العامة لنقل الركاب
