Description
English: NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 4, 2005) One week after Hurricane Katrina ripped through the Gulf Coast, Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Miguel Martinez catches a much-needed in-flight break in the skies over Louisiana. Approximately one-third of the Coast Guard?s entire air fleet was deployed to the region to support rescue operations in the immediate aftermath of the storm. Martinez, an aviation maintenance technician from Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, took part in supplies-shipment missions and was one of the thousands of Coast Guardsmen called to the Gulf Coast.
