Summary

[edit]
Description

British V8 air-cooled piston engine, producing 120hp. First ran in 1925, powering the Avro 548 and de Havilland DH51. A running example still powers the Shuttleworth Collection’s airworthy DH51 ‘G-EBIR’. Airdisco and ADC are both variations of the full company name ‘Aircraft Disposal Company’. Two Avro 548A were flown by the Portuguese Air Force in the mid-1920’s, hence the engine’s inclusion in the museum here. Museu do Ar, Alverca do Ribatejo, Portugal
