[edit]DescriptionAD2008July01 Oetztal Alps main chain - Fineil ridge - panoramic view from north.jpg |
English: The Schnalskamm ridge is part of the Ötztal Alps' main chain alongside the borderline between Austria and Italy. The picture shows a subsection of the Schnalskamm called "Fineilgruppe" (Fineil ridge) — named after its highest peak, the Feineilspitze. It was taken at the Austrian side of the Ötztal Alps and therefore shows the chain's north face. The far away mountains to the left are part of the Stubai Alps. Additionally there are two side chains: the Kreuzkamm (mountains between Fineilspitze and Kreuzspitze) and the Saldurner Kamm (to the right). To the right of the center of the frame is a skiing area called "Schnalstaler Gletscherbahn", which is one of the few skiing areas in the Alps that has open year-round. Its top station "Berghotel Grawand" (3212 m, 10538 ft) has the highest indoor pool in the Alps. |

NOTE: This image is a panorama of Ötztal Alps — Schnalskamm consisting of 8 frames that were merged or stitched in Adobe Photoshop CS4. As a result, this image necessarily underwent some form of digital manipulation. These manipulations may include blending, blurring, cloning, and colour and perspective adjustments. As a result of these adjustments, the image content may be slightly different from reality at the points where multiple images were combined. This manipulation is often required due to lens, perspective, and parallax distortions.
