Description
English: THE HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1853 BY THE SCHERMERHORN FAMILY AND NAMED FOR A 2 CENTURY OAK TREE WHICH STOOD ON THE PROPERTY. AFTER MRS. SCHERMERHORN DIED IT WAS PURCHASED IN 1857 BY AUGUSTUS CRANE WHO REMODELLED THE HOUSE INTO AN ITALIAN VILLA.
