English: Wharf near 3rd St.
Detail of door and windows on port side of Towboat Annie's restaurant. . Diesel towboat (doc. # 259375), with steel hull and twin props.. The hull was built at Ambridge, Pennsylvania by American Bridge Co. and the rest was completed by the owner, in 1950.. It was 140 x 25 x 10.1 [ more likely 103 x 25.1 x 9.8, as listed in Coast Guard documentation ] and powered by GM 12-567 diesels with a total of 1800 hp. (Those were placed in 1955).. It was owned by Warrior & Gulf Navigation Co., of Chickasaw, Alabama, and was originally named "Choctaw".. In 1971 it was sold to Gulf-Canal Lines, Inc. of Houston and renamed "Port of Houston".. In 1978 Hollinger Transportation of Greenville, Mississippi, bought the boat and resold it to Bel-Mon Towing Co., of Powhattan Point, Ohio, who renamed it the "Gregory Jay".. Sometime after 1978, Ron Grimm bought it (Golden Triangle River Contract & Towing Co., Ltd., of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania).. Ron sold it in 1983 to G & C Towing of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.. The "Gregory Jay" burned in Pittsburgh in 1984, and was sold to River Valley Cruises of South Point, Ohio.. It was converted to a restaurant boat, renamed Towboat Annie's, and berthed in Jeffersonville, Indiana [in early 1988], then later in Louisville, Kentucky.. [from Michael A. Grimm's genealogy site]. .. In 2002, the restaurant was renamed "Port O' Call," but I don't recall if it ever opened under that name. I think the boat left Louisville soon after that, perhaps in 2003.. ... In 2010, it was cut up for scrap at the foot of the I-470 bridge across from Wheeling WV... [from ohio981.blogspot.com/2010/09/three-photos-from-1980s.html, comment by Ben Duvall].. . Ohio River mile 604. Louisville, Kentucky. July 21, 2002. file # a2g053. . IMG_0198.
