Description
English: Looking NW from wharf near 3rd St.

Towboat "River Falcon" upbound. L&I Bridge and upper gates of McAlpine Dam in distance. . Twin screw towboat "River Falcon" (USCG doc. # 240135, length 144 feet, breadth 35 feet, GM 16-645E2 diesels [repowered in 1985], 3600 hp.). Built in 1940 by Manitowoc [Wisconsin Shipbuilding Co.]. Originally the boat was named "Stanolind A" and owned by Standard Oil Co. of Indiana. [See a collection of "Stanolind A" photos]. By 1961, the boat was owned by American Oil Co., Chicago, and renamed "Amoco Missouri". In 1973, it was transferred to Amoco Oil Co., Chicago. In 1986, it was renamed "Missouri River". In 1990, it was sold to Madison Coal and Supply Co., Charleston, West Virginia. In 1993, the boat was sold to Tolen Marine, Paducah, Kentucky, and renamed "Charles Duncan". In 1997, it was sold to McNational, Inc., South Point, Ohio, and renamed "River Falcon". From then forward, the boat was operated by Excell Marine Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio.
