English: McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A Hornet A21-5 cn 271/AF5. Ordered 11/1981. Built as a Block 15, A model Hornet. Delivered 30/06/86. The first 14 aircraft (A21-1 to A21-7, A21-101 to A21-107) were all allocated to 2OCU to enable the commencement of Hornet instructor training. 2OCU's Hornets were marked with a yellow and black tail flash, to which the unit's tiger head insignia was later added. Served with 3 Sqn. Deployed to Diego Garcia in 2002 for the War on Terrorism, returned to Australia via perth and arrived at RAAF Williamtown 22/05/02. Used by both 77 and 3 Sqn during deployment and carried the markings of each sqn on the tail for 3 months each. Completed Phase 1 of HUG Program.
