Description
English: Looking NW from upper end of 600-foot lock at McAlpine Locks

Crane barge in lock, which is being demolished and replaced with a new 1200-foot lock. Cofferdam under construction in distance. Mobile crane dropping off a concrete form. The concrete structure to the right of the crane contains machinery which opens and closes one of the two "Stoney gates" which let water into the lock. (See diagram of 600-foot lock at McAlpine showing Stoney gates and culverts.) . Ohio River mile 607. Louisville, Kentucky. Mar. 3, 2001. file # a1c010. .
