. Workers installing a pipe to carry water across the Portland Canal. During the replacement of the old 600-foot and 360-foot locks with a new 1200-foot lock, city water will be supplied to Shippingport Island via a large plastic pipe laid along the edge of the canal and then, further upriver, across to the island along the bottom of the canal. In distance, 2 cranes in tow of "Wayne McBride". Across the canal, mooring buoys are neatly stacked, and old lock gates are lying on the bank. . Ohio River mile 606. Louisville, Kentucky.
