(Description and comment from M.Dorothy George, 'Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires in the British Museum', VI, 1938) The original water-colour is reproduced, Angelo, 'Reminiscences', 1904, i. 332. The ladies are identified by Angelo as 'the celebrated Miss Gordon' and Miss Ray. The latter, however, died in 1779 (cf. BMSat 5540).
