Description
English:
Types of altered ganglion cells in the invaded area. The periphery of the cell in the center contains a number of cancer cells; the central portion has numerous granules (Abbaustoffe) and several vacuoles containing lymphocytes and polymorphonuclear cells (use hand lens). At A, there is another ganglion of smaller size filled with cancer elements; at B, a dark homogeneous cell without inclusions: at C, a new formed capillary; at D, a fibroblast; the numerous round, pale bodies with distinct nucleoli are cancer cells. Thionin, x480

Sometimes thenucleus stained so faintly that it could be detected only by the presenceof the nucleolus. Many of the ganglion cells were vacuolated, othersbroken up or unevenly stained. With the Bielschowsky silver impreg-nation some showed a reticulum but. as a rule, the neurofibrils wereabsent.
