Description A U.S. Navy Ling Temco Vought A-7E-5-CV Corsair II (BuNo 156849) from Attack Squadron VA-146 Blue Diamond in flight. VA-146 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CVA-64) for a deployment to Vietnam from 1 October 1971 to 1 July 1972. The A-7E 156849 suffered an engine failure during a strike on 22 January 1972. The pilot ejected over the Gulf of Tonkin and was rescued.
