Description

Four U.S. Navy Douglas A-4C Skyhawk from Attack Squadron VA-146 Blue Diamonds in flight. VA-146 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CVA-64) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 5 May 1964 to 1 February 1965. The Skyhawks are accompanied by two Vought F-8C Crusader from Fighter Squadron VF-194 Red Lightnings, assigned to CVW-19 aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 28 January to 21 November 1964.

Both carrier air wings flew strikes in the first phase of the Vietnam War, beginning in August 1964.
