| Description | A U.S. Navy Douglas A-4B Skyhawk (BuNo 142114) from Anti-Submarine Fighter Squadron VSF-3 Chessmen. VSF-3 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 10 (CVW-10) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CVS-11) for a deployment to the Vietnam from 11 May to 30 December 1967. During that deployment the A-4B 142114 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire over North Vietnam on 3 October 1967. The pilot, Lt(jg) A.D. Perkins, ejected and was rescued. |
