תיאור: המוזיאון בכנסיית אמאוס.ב-1879 קנה מסדר הכרמליתיות את השטח מאנשי הכפר הערבי עמואס; באתר החלו חפירות בין 1931-1932 הקימו נזירי מסדר "אבות הלב הקדוש של בית-ארם" מנזר באתר, המוכר בשם בית השלום. במלחמת 6 הימים השתלט צה"ל על הכפר עמואס ותושביו נטשו.
הערות: אמאוס ניקופוליס הייתה עיר מחוז רומית-ביזנטית בשפלה, ששכנה בשוליו המזרחיים של עמק איילון, בסמוך ממזרח למחלף לטרון. שמה המקורי של העיר היה "חמת", על שם מעיינות המרפא החמים שבה, ושם זה שובש בתקופה הרומית לשם היווני "אמאוס". בעיר התקיימה קהילה יהודית גדולה, והיא נזכרת רבות בכתבי חז"ל. העיר חרבה במהלך הכיבוש הערבי של ארץ ישראל. העיר נודעה בשל המסורת הנוצרית המזהה אותה כאחד המקומות בהם התגלה ישו לשניים מתלמידיו לאחר שקם לתחייה,ובשל כך הוקמו בסביבתה לאורך השנים כנסיות, מנזרים וביצורים.(ויקיפדיה)
