Name: Haifa Stella Maris
Description: Stella Maris is an area on the top of Carmel where there are centuries-old monastery and church complexes, as well as chapels and other buildings belonging to the Carmelite order. The name is one of the nicknames of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

שם: חיפה סטלה מאריס
תיאור: סְטֶלָה מַארִיס (מלטינית: – "כוכב הים") הוא אזור בראש הכרמל ובו מתחמים של מנזר וכנסייה בני מאות שנים, וכן קפלות ומבנים נוספים השייכים למסדר הכרמליתי.השם הוא הוא אחד מכינויה של מרים, אם ישו, שבהקשר זה מוצגת כמגוננת על יורדי ים, מלחים ודייגים.
הערות: המסדר הכרמליתי נוסד על הר הכרמל לאחר מסע הצלב השלישי ב-1192, בידי נזירים שחיו במערות בנחל שיח בהשראת אליהו הנביא. המסדר שגשג והתרחב משם לרחבי אירופה. בניית הושלמה ב-1853. המקום שימש כמנזר, בית חולים ואכסניה. ב-1839 העניק האפיפיור גרגוריוס השישה עשר תואר כבוד של "בזיליקה מינור" לכנסייה, כאות לכך שהיא נחשבת ל"כנסיית האם" של המסדר. עם הנזירים במנזר נמנה שמואל אוסוואלד רופאייזן שנודע בשם "האח דניאל".כיפת הכנסייה צוירה בשנים 1926–1928 בידי הנזיר האמן לואיג'י פוג'י.
