הערות: מתוך סדרת נופי צומח פרחים/פרפרניים של עוזי פז. הצמח גדל בכתמים צפופים בנוף, יוצר לעתים מרבדים ענקיים מלוא כל רוחב העין. בין היתר נובע הדבר מן האסטרטגיה שלו בהפצת הזרעים: הזרע גדול, מכיל רקמת מזון נדיבה, כך שסיכוייו של הנבט להצליח הם טובים.המין תורמוס ארצישראלי גדל בארץ באיזור החוף, בקרקעות חוליות ובחול־חמרה. צבע פרחיו בין לילך־תכלת עכור ללבן. פורח מפברואר עד אפריל. תפוצתו העולמית משתרעת בארצות מזרח הים התיכון.
