Title
965 buckle plate.jpg
Description
English: Cast copper alloy buckle plate length 30mm, width 15mm, thickness 2mm. The main body of the plate is triangular when viewed from above, recessed curvilinear decoration depicts foliage on the top of the plate, two rivet holes, one in front of the other, both with traces of an Fe rivet. The forward edge has two rectangular arms that would have been bent back on themselves, these would wrap around the strap bar of the buckle, the arms are truncated but would have terminated in a second plate that would have been attached to the back of the first. The style of this piece suggests a date of 15th to 16th century
