Title
961 Late Medieval to Early Post-Medieval thimble.jpg
Description
English: Cast copper alloy thimble length 20mm, thickness 1mm. This example has been squashed slightly resulting in a 22mm by 18mm aperture. The object is very worn and heavily corroded. There are elongated vertical pits that being in the centre of the crown and spiral down covering the crown and the whole of the body. These pits are likely to have been applied mechanically as this method was in use by the 16th century (Cuddeford 1992 page 48).

Artefacts such as these dates to the 15th-16th centuries.
