Summary

[edit]
Description
• English: The Pusterla di Sant'Ambrogio in Milano is a weird Disney-like "reconstruction" of a medieval gate ("pusterla" was the name for a minor city gate), built in 1939 (as the rests of three fasces on the left tower reveal) re-using parts and bits (including the 14th century statues of "Saint Ambrose between Saint Gervasius and Saint Protasius", by an unknown Campionese master) from genuine medieval gates, that were lightheartedly demolished. The "reconstruction" was too wide and radical and arbitrary to allow us today to speak about a true "restauration" rather than about a Gothic revival pastiche.
