Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_92735_IMG_0898 - Copy.JPG Notes: ראשיתו של המנזר בשטח שנקנה בידי משמורת ארץ הקודש הפרנציסקנית ב-1396. במהלך המאה ה-15 הוקמה על שטח זה אכסניה שהייתה נטושה כאשר לא פקדו אותה צליינים. במאה ה-16 זוהה האתר עם ביתו של יוסף הרמתי, הוקמה בו כנסייה והוא נתקדש. בסמוך לבית יוסף זיהו הנזירים את ביתו של ניקודמוס הקדוש, שעליו נאמר שהיה איש הסנהדרין ושהביא מור ואהלות לרחצת גופו של ישו לאחר הורדתו מהצלב.
