At right, permanently moored barges provide some protection against stray vessels or other large objects drifting downstream and hitting "Star of Louisville" while it is moored. . Twin screw towboat "W. A. Kernan" (doc. # 559099, length 145 feet, breadth 48 feet, GM 16-645E5 diesels, 5600 hp. [later uprated to 6200 hp?]). Built in 1974 by <a href="http://www.shipbuildinghistory.com/shipyards/small/jeffboat.htm" rel="nofollow">Jeffboat</a>, Inc., Jeffersonville, Indiana. Owned by American Commercial Barge Line, Jeffersonville.
