Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_90336_DSC01912.JPG Notes: פילבוקס היא עמדה מבוצרת עשויה מבטון לרוב בצורת גליל (גלולה - pill). ומשמשת כעמדת שמירה ופיקוח וכן למחסה מפני ירי או לירי מבעד לחרכי ירי. עמדות הפילבוקסים שהקימו הבריטים בארץ במחצית השנייה של המאה העשרים היו ברובם בגובה של כ-5 מטרים ובקוטר של 3.5 מטרים ובראשה כיפה שטוחה. הכניסה והיציאה היחידה לפילבוקס היו אפשריות אך ורק דרך דלת פלדה יחידה משוריינת. השומרים שנכנסו לפילבוקס היו עולים בסולם או מדרגות ברזל לעמדת השמירה שבקומה העליונה.דרך חרכי הירי ומבעד חלונות הפלדה המרובעים ניתן היה לחלוש על האזור.
