Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_89105_20220823_120636.jpg Notes: ליד שמורת עין גדי נמצאים שרידי בית כנסת עתיק מתחת לכיפת אוהל. הממצאים הם מהמאה ה-3 לספירה. אז התחדש היישוב לאחר חורבנו בתקופת מרד בר כוכבא, במאה ה-6 לספירה, חרב המקום ובית הכנסת נשרף. התגלה מתקן דמוי במה. בבית הכנסת נמצא כנראה ארון קודש ובו שרידי קלף מפוחמים. אחד מהם קטע מראשית ספר ויקרא. במרכז השתמרה רצפת פסיפס ובה דגם דמוי צלב קרס. בפסיפס מאוחר יותר כתובות בשפה הארמית. נמצאו במקום 5,000 מטבעות מהמאות ה4 - 6 , גביע מברונזה, קישוטי פרוכת רקומה חוטי ועלי זהב ומנורת שבעת קנים זעירה מכסף.
