. Towboat "Betty June Walker" (doc. # 248942) upbound near upper end of Portland Canal.

This twin-screw towboat (150x35, Fairbanks-Morse OP diesels, repowered 1958, 3200 hp) was built in 1945 by Calumet Shipyard and Drydock Co., Chicago, Illinois It was originally named "George T. Horton" and owned by John I. Hay Co., Chicago In 1963, it was sold to A.L. Mechling Barge Lines, Joliet, Ill. In 1968, it was sold to central Towing Co., St. Louis, Ill. In 1970, it was sold to Walker Towing Corp., Paducah, Kentucky, and renamed "Betty June Walker" In 1993, it was sold to M&I Transport Services, Paducah In 1996, it was sold to TRP Transport, Paducah Later in 1996, the boat was sold to American Boat Co., Cahokia, Illinois, and renamed "Razner" Circa 2006, the boat was dismantled . Shippingport Island is on other side of canal, with Conrail (later L&I) Bridge in distance. In foreground are shipping containers at Kentucky Container Service. . Ohio River mile 605.
