Description
English: Looking NNW from I-64 overlooking River Road between Clay St. [later Witherspoon St.] and Adams St..

At left, prop storage building for Louisville Ballet, 1338 River Road. (The 1987 Louisville City Directory describes it as a "scene construction plant." The 1982 Directory lists the location as being occupied by K-1 Truss and Building Components.) At right, buildings at 1340 River Road which are occupied (or were recently occupied) by Earl's Welding Service and Walker Excavating Co. As of 2013, the prop storage building is occupied by Browning Equipment Co. (lawn and garden equipment), 1338 River Road. The greenish building at right still exists but may be unoccupied. In distance, across River Road, storage tanks belonging to Shell Oil terminal, 1301 River Road, which is just upriver from Riverway, behind Towhead Island. [The 1987 Louisville City Directory lists 1301 River Road as "Shell Oil (Yards)," while the 1982 Directory lists that address as "American Oil Co. (Yards)."]
