Description
English: Looking WNW from River Road just upriver (east) of Preston St.

River Road veers and continues west under the expressway, while Preston St. intersects from the south. Railroad tracks cross River Road at this point. I-64 at left. Some sand and gravel piles remain at closed Martin-Marietta sand yard, left of center. Low white office building, dumpsters and red crane can be seen at Klempner Brothers scrap yard, located between Martin-Marietta sand yard and Port of Louisville Terminal (right). Clark Bridge in distance. Ohio River mile 603. Louisville, Kentucky. January 1988. File # 88a070.

The Klempner family started in the scrap metal business in the early 1900's, but I don't know when this River Road facility began operating. . 35 mm Kodachrome. Plustek OpticFilm 7600i and Silverfast 8. Picture Window 6.
