[edit]Description82nd SB-CMRE opens incinerator at Kandahar 131223-A-ZZ999-494.jpg |
English: Phoenix, Ariz., native Col. Mark D. Collins, commander, 82nd Sustainment Brigade-U.S. Central Command Materiel Recovery Element, and Brig. Gen. John J.T. Thomson, deputy commanding general-support, 4th Infantry Division, take a tour of the newly opened ammunition incinerator on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Dec. 23. The incinerator provides a safe way to dispose of excess small arms ammunition rounds of .50 caliber or less. The 82nd SB-CMRE will use the incinerator as part of its goal of materiel reduction which saves taxpayers money as it would cost more to ship the rounds back to the U.S. than to dispose of them. |
