DescriptionMaize Field - geograph.org.uk - 824038.jpg |
English: Maize Field near to Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire/Sir Gaerfyrddin, Wales. – Maize is a fairly new field crop for this part of Wales but farmers are increasingly growing it, to produce a heavy silage crop, now that the climate seems to be warming up. Even so, protecting the young plants with a transparent polythene film gives them a better chance of survival in a cold spring snap. Two rows of crowded plants can be seen here that failed to receive their protection and still seem to be flourishing. |
