Description

Even though I'm 47 years old, it's pretty exciting to win a blue ribbon at the Iowa State Fair. This is just a look at my entry in the 71st annual Iowa State Fair Photography Salon, which won first place in the Things and Still Life category.

The people who run the photography contest at the State Fair do a great job, including a great job of keeping statistics on the contest. A total of 1,574 photographers entered a record-number 4,802 photographs in the contest; 878 photographs by 617 photographers were selected for display. Of those, 190 photos received awards in 27 different categories. The category I was recognized in had the third largest number of entries.
