Signs for "70 Mile Road House" and "A.C. Co.""(Alaska Commercial Company) appear on buildings at the right of the photograph. Exact location is unclear. The most likely candidate is near the present Seventymile River which is located south of the Yukon River between Circle City and Eagle, Alaska. Gold was discovered on Seventymile River in 1895.; 70 mile, on the Yukon. [Symbol.] No. 628.; A 1900 "Map of Forty Mile, Eagle City and Seventy Mile Mining Districts" created by George W. Lenont shows the Seventymile encampment at the confluence of the Yukon and Seventymile Rivers. |
