English: About 80 runners prepare for the start of a 705th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company 5K memorial run on Forward Operating Base Shank, Afghanistan, April 17. The EOD unit conducted the event to honor two fallen heroes, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Chauncy Mays and U.S. Army Spc. Christopher Stark, who died during an improvised explosive device attack in Wardak province, Afghanistan, Feb. 28 and to raise money to support the EOD Memorial Foundation based at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The event raised more than $1,100 of donations to support the foundation in the names of Mays and Stark. |
