Summary
[edit]Description70013 Oliver Cromwell on the Broadsman - geograph.org.uk - 1758796.jpg |
English: 70013 Oliver Cromwell on the Broadsman Oliver Cromwell is slowing down for the approach to Norwich, running dead on time as it has been all day. The train being the Broadsman, London to Sheringham train. However I dont think it would have gone from Kings Cross via Ely, it usually ran from Liverpool street. The reason this trip did so was due to modern day pathing issues. Bridging the River Tas is a single lane road bridge, this never used to exist at the beginning, a level crossing used to run over the line. An old flint crossing house can be seen behind the engine. On arrival at Norwich the train was split, 5 plus diesel to Sheringham. The rest of the passengers going via vintage bus. This is because of the removal of West Runton curve and not enough room on the crossover at Cromer along with an axel counter on the branch.
