[edit]Description6th Special Operations Squadon (United States Air Force) insignia, 1997.png |
English: Insignia of the U.S. Air Force 6th Special Operations Squadron. The emblem was approved on 5 September 1997. "Symbolism: Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The design is based on the unit's predecessor insignia. The disc bearing an annulet alludes to a globe and reflects the unit's round-the-clock, worldwide mission capabilities. The six-pointed star denotes the Squadron's numerical designation and honors the memory of all previous "Commandos." The lightning bolts reflect two World War II campaign credits. The winged dagger symbolizes the Special Operations mission of the unit and the dedication and skills of Squadron personnel." |
