Description
English: Horseshoe Hill, South Vietnam. 1969-09. South Vietnamese soldiers are given instructions on how to load an M79 grenade launcher by Private (Pte) Ron Jones of Darlington, WA. Pte Jones of B Company, 6RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment), was helping in a retraining programme for South Vietnamese troops, being carried out a few miles from the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) base at Nui Dat from 1969-08-12 to 1969-09-20. Four battalions of the 18th Division of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) will be retrained by the Australians. The ARVN soldiers are members of the 3/43 ARVN Battalion.
