Description |
English: Cast, copper alloy thimble. Thick walled, domed thimble with hand stamped circular indentations in a spiral pattern. At the base is a plain rim bordered by an incised groove. At the crown is a small bare area (tonsure)with no indentations. The tip of the thimble is rounded. Approximate diameter of indentations - 1.6 mm. The combination of the spiral pattern of indentations and the presence of a tonsure dates this thimble to the 16th to early 17th century (pre c.1650) |
