Title
685 medieval buckle plate.jpg
Description
English: Sheet copper alloy Buckle plate, length 41mm, width 19mm, height 6mm, thickness 1mm. The copper alloy sheet has been folded in two, the folded side a notch cut into the centre 7mm long and 4mm wide. This would have been for the pin, there are also recesses in each corner to facilitate the buckle. There is a recessed line running around the edge of the plate and a notch at the attachment end. Four rivet holes with copper alloy rivets, all of which are still in place. There is the remains of a copper alloy buckle still in the fold of the buckle plate, but only the strap bar remains, which would be narrowed and recessed with expanded terminals. This dates to the Medieval period.
