Summary

[edit]
Description The dark side of GB Railfreight class 66/7 (JT42CWR) number 66720 in rainbow livery as designed by Emily Goodman, aged 6, (daughter of GB Railfreights Whitemoor-based Yard Shift Leader Ben Goodman) hauling empty gypsum containers mounted on flat wagons from Mountfield Sidings (Gbrf) East Sussex (British Gypsum's Robertsbridge Works) to West Burton Power station (4E19) on 12 March 2014 just as it did on 11 March 2014 (www.flickr.com/photos/99279135@N05/13088876165/) and 10 March 2014. It was also photographed later on route at Helpston by John Hennis (www.flickr.com/photos/hennis4472/13109211863/). To comply with gas emission regulations limestone (CaCO3) delivered to the power station (by other trains) is used to remove sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the flue gasses (desulfurisation), by converting it into gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O). The waste product (gypsum) is then delivered by train to British Gypsum's Robertsbridge Works where it is used to manufacture plaster and plasterboard for Greater London and the South East of England. 66720 was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, London, Ontario, Canada in 2006 and unloaded from the Heavy Lift Ship MV "Jumbo Challenger" at Newport Docks on 9 April 2006 (www.flickr.com/photos/nickwilcock/6985490635/) photographed by Nick Wilcock.
