This service returns empty FIA 'Multifret' twin intermodal flat wagons used to transport steel for export in billet form from Tata Steels Scunthorpe complex on South Humberside in Lincolnshire (see Andy Pictons photo <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/98929239@N03/14032630236/in/photostream/">www.flickr.com/photos/98929239@N03/14032630236/in/photost...</a>) to a freight yard at Ebange in Eastern France via Dollands Moor and Calais Fréthun through the Channel Tunnel. Laurent Knop photographed Euro Cargo Rail's loco number E 186-317 at Valenciennes (Nord - department 59) hauling loaded wagons working from Calais Fréthun to Ebange on 2 April 2014 (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/x4644/13687214105/in/photolist-mRuxU6-mNzNdU-mNzLv5-mNzPtE-mMocUm-mMo73b-mMmrap-mKuhkB-mKusLz-mEazoa-mEatj6-mEc8sQ-mEafJi-mBV88g-mBWQbA-mBVpZv-mBUYzV-mBWFH3-mBVbAt-mxViPE-mxTyQM-mxVq4d-mvJ8tp-mvJbPn-mvJLgF-msuJ14-msw6dy-mq8CHX-miCyaS-mgTK6x-mgVv2W-mgUmeB-mn7Q8v-m8Mnft-m6J1Q7-m6GD56-m6HS1J-m6HVsy-m6Gi2F-m5uQtr-m5uVRv-m5uria-kXKx7q-kXJDRi-kW1xhi-kW1uep-kTP9QB-kTQ9T1-kRCXz2-kPqTfC/">www.flickr.com/photos/x4644/13687214105/in/photolist-mRux...</a>). Once in Ebange the steel is used at Tata's Hayange rail mill to produce rail for SNCF's LGV Est européenne construction programme to extend the French high-speed rail network. Some of the DB Schenker (with EWS branding) FIA 'Multifret' twin intermodal flat wagons were identified as 31 70 4938 538 6 and 33 70 4938 514 7. 66170 was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, London, Ontario, Canada in 1999 and unloaded from the Heavy Lift Ship MV "Jumbo Challenger" at Newport Docks on 19 November 1999. |
