66101 WBBT WEMBLEYYD 726Z201610 6 * LYDD TOWN N 6Z21 DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd's class 66 (JT42CWR) number 66101 in Deutsche Bahn cherry red with DB Schenker branding is photographed working 6Z20 hauling 9 empty bogie box wagons from Wembley European Freight Operations Centre to Lydd Town on 10 February 2015. It was also photographed by Edward Clarkson later on route passing Paddock Wood and by Christopher Livings near Lydd. This service was a trail run on behalf of Brett Aggregates Limited and if successful would mitigate the traffic/transport implications such as lorry movements on unsuitable residential roads, so overcoming some of the local residents objections to the expansion of sand and gravel extraction at Lydd Quarry. Kent County Council suggest that the additional 1.6 million tonnes of land-won aggregate material to be extracted over the next 7 years will be used as construction material in south and east Kent. Other concerns and objections to the expansion of Lydd Quarry have been raised by Kent Wildlife Trust, Natural England, the Environment Agency, RSPB, Southern Water, members of Lydd Town Council, Shepway District Council and local residents. Despite these expansion of Lydd Quarry remains one of Kent County Councils preferred options for mineral extraction within the county. According to Matthew Brown numbers of the bogie box wagons were KEA VTG 3207, KEA VTG 3237, KEA VTG 3236, KEA VTG 3166, KEA VTG 3195, KEA VTG 3214, KEA VTG 3194, KEA VTG 3216 and KEA VTG 3199. 66101 (works number 968702-101) was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, London, Ontario, Canada in 1998 and unloaded from the Heavy Lift Ship MV "Stellanova" at Newport Docks on 24 April 1999.
