Description

Identities for all 21 IHA bogie steel coil carrier wagons in order hauled by 66024 working 6O32 Margam to Dollands Moor on 10 April 2014. 1 = 33 87 4767 0931-7, 2 = 33 87 4767 041-6, 3 = 33 87 4904 003-0, 4 = 33 87 4904 027-9, 5 = 37 84 4667 103-4, 6 = 33 87 4904 006-3, 7 = 33 87 4767 043-2, 8 = 33 87 4767 030-9, 9 = 33 87 4767 019-2, 10 = 33 87 4667 010-2, 11 = 33 87 4667 068-0, 12 = 37 84 4667 011-9, 13 = 37 84 4667 018-4, 14 = 37 84 4667 191-9, 15 = 33 87 4667 020-1, 16 = 37 84 4667 010-1, 17 = 37 84 4667 073-9, 18 = 33 87 4767 014-3 179, 19 = 37 84 4667 061-4, 20 = 33 87 4667 001-1 and 21 = 37 84 4667 116-6. A similar set of wagons was photographed by Tarek Marouane at La Chapell D'Armentieres France returning to the UK from Maubeuge being hauled by class 66 number 062 on 5 April 2014 (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/118798932@N04/13775639925/">www.flickr.com/photos/118798932@N04/13775639925/</a>).

The steel flow from South Wales to Maubeuge (France) and to Broekman (Holland) stopped running through the Channel tunnel at the end of November 2015. The flow to Maubeuge was cancelled as the cold mill which produced this material was mothballed as part of the Tata Steel strip downsizing programme. Instead Maubeuge is supplied from Tata Steels Limuiden plant (Holland). 2 grades of steel were also supplied by Tata Steel to Broekman Group to make oil drums. With one grade being sourced from elsewhere the remaining 700 tonnes per week of the second grade was not sufficient to run a block train.
