Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 616-632 (620) Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) between West 18th and 19th Streets in the Flatiron District, Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1895-1897, with an addition in 1899, as the Siegel-Cooper Dry Goods Store, designed by DeLemos & Cordes in the Beaux-Arts style. It was the first steel-framed department store in NYC, and the biggest store in the world for a time. The store closed in 1917, and the building was most recently warehouse space and a social services agency ("The Door"), before being renovated for retail use. It currently holds Bed, Bath & Beyond, T.J. Maxx and Filene's Basement.
