Title
600 coin of Augustus reverse.JPG
Description
English: Denarius of Augustus, this coin was minted in Spain at the Colonia Patricia mint in 17-16 BC.
The obverse shows a bare headed bust facing right, with the inscription. SPQR CAESARI [AVGVS]TO
Rexerse has Mars standing left, holding vexillum & parazonium over his shoulder, the inscription should be [VOT P SVSC PRO SAL ET RED I O M] SACR.

Because of the high silver content of this type of coin was kept in circulation for a long time with examples known from hoards that date to the second century, which would explain the heavy degree of wear.
