[edit]Description5th Signal's Cyber Center earns points towards LEED Gold (10592383193).jpg | Transformer facilities required to power 5th Signal Command’s 59,000-square-foot Cyber Center Europe, located on Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden, Germany, are installed October 30, 2013. A 130-foot truck crane and flatbed truck brought the facilities on post and placed them within inches of the intended destination. The huge crane was required to lift the facilities over existing buildings and trees. By avoiding tree cutting, the project earned significant points towards achieving a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold certification. The facility, scheduled to be complete in summer 2014, will feature 200 workstations, a detached parking structure and many sustainable design elements. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District, in partnership with the German construction agency, is managing the project, which broke ground in June 2012. The Cyber Center will capitalize on the use of natural light, thus minimizing the need for florescent lighting. It will also include low flow, water-saving plumbing, using 40 percent less water than a comparably sized building and saving more than 200,000 gallons of water annually. The center, recently dedicated to Lt. Gen. Robert E. Gray, a distinguished signal officer, will consolidate several key organizations under one roof.
