Title
51E5F5 roman earring
Description
English: Roman gold earring, 12mm in diameter, 10mm wide, 0.5mm thick with a weight of 0.92 grams. The earring consists of a rectangular sheet of gold which has a raised border at each side and one end. The surface is decorated with a herring bone stlye pattern which consists of three linear raised areas which is bisected with incised zig-zags. This pattern becomes squashed at the end with the raised border. In the centre of this is a small circular depression which shows through on the other side. The other end of the object has broken off leaving a slightly jagged edge. The object is in good condition with a good gold patina.
