Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Gurkhas in 1944/5 were pushing the Japanese back through northern Burma . My father was 19 years old and had been promoted to Captain very quickly as his commander had been killed in fighting. The territory was really tough to advance through with both the Japanese fighting fiercely and the geographical elements such as the Falls at Irrawaddy and the Gotek Gorge presenting real challenges. However they successfully pushed the Japanese out of Burma and the Gurkhas proved themselves to be remarkably resilient and effective fighters ( as usual )
