Description
English: Four stelae of members of a funeral brotherhood. Coptos. Roman period II-III century. Formerly polychrome limestone. On each stele, two men (treated in a similar way - different sculptors?). Each one holds a palm or an ear and a funeral garland. Lyon Museum of Fine Arts. From left to right and top to bottom: E 501-6 (H. 55.2 cm), E 501-5, E 501-1, E 501-7. Called "Palmyrenians of Coptos".
Français : Quatre stèles de membres d'une confrérie funéraire. Coptos. époque romaine II-IIIe siècle. Calcaire autrefois polychrome. Sur chaque stèle, deux hommes (traités de manière similaire - sculpteurs différents ?). Chacun tient une palme ou un épis et une guirlande funéraire. Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. De gauche à droite et de haut en bas : E 501-6 (H. 55,2 cm), E 501-5, E 501-1, E 501-7. Dits "Palmyréniens de Coptos".
